Amberlea was developed in two phases. Amberlea I was developed in the late 1980s and consists of 76 homes. Amberlea II was developed in the late 1990s and consists of 18 homes. Shortly after its inception, the development was sold to Pete McNabb, the Arthur Rutenberg Franchisee, who built all but three of the homes in Phase I and all of the homes in Phase II. Amberlea was converted to a gated community in 2006 after 75% of the community voted in favor of the conversion.
The community was developed with over-sized lots which provide ample yards and wide spaces between the homes. In addition, all the homes in Amberlea were developed with swimming pools in the back yard.
